| This section covers the art and craft of 'Building Sculpture'. We can carve and produce building sculpture in any style or form. Architectural carving is craft based and is worked to a set method, such as this classical 'Tongue and Dart' piece that I carved for the British Museum in French limestone. |

| 1) This classical 'Tongue and Dart' piece that I carved for the British Museum in French limestone. |
2) This has more in common in its construction with the process of 'banker work' which is the dressing of stone with a moulding such as this piece of marble for a church in Carmarthen, Wales. |
| 3) Likewise these crosses for a church in Exeter. |
4) Also like the plinth of this bust of the Duke of Cambridge which resides in the Army and Navy Club, Pall Mall, London. |
| 5) The Tudor rose has both an architectural and a direct feel to it. |
6) Direct carving is allowing the shape of a stone to dictate a carving such as this large female torso. Direct carving was made famous by artists such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Eric Gill |

| 7) These sandstone arch components have been worked in both styles. The moulding worked from templates and processed by hand, and the heads worked direct as a contrast. These can be seen in the Lady Chapel at Hereford Cathedral. |
8) Classical sculpture was traditionally reliant on making a scale model and then transferring the measurements onto stone or plaster/wood.
Clay is a wonderful sculptural material allowing the sculptor to perfect a piece before making a master copy. |

| 9) This is a heroic scale, larger than life bust which can then be transferred into stone, wood, plaster or bronze etc. |
10) Moulds for busts can be sculpted from life or scaled down like this miniature Beethoven in Lincolnshire stone |
